MSK/Infiltration

Musculoskeletal (MSK) medicine generally treats injuries involving joints, ligaments, tendons, and nerves. Common examples include ankle sprains, knee osteoarthritis, and shoulder tendinopathy.

Our team provides an assessment/opinion and infiltration service.

    • Referral from a physician, nurse practitioner, or physiotherapist

    • We accept referrals for the following:​

      • Sports injury Musculoskeletal pathology in a sports patient

      • Musculoskeletal pathology of less than 3 months

      • Musculoskeletal pathology of less than 6 months before active physiotherapy follow-up

    • Referral from a physician, nurse practitioner, or physiotherapist

    • We accept referrals for the following:

      • Cortisone infiltration: Cortisone is a powerful medication that acts on the immune system to quickly control or eliminate inflammation. It can relieve symptoms in as little as 48 hours. Its effectiveness typically lasts for 6 to 8 weeks.

      • Viscosupplementation infiltration: The viscosupplement is a natural substance found in the synovial fluid of the joints. Its injection lubricates the cartilage, thus reducing friction and pain. Its effectiveness in relieving pain can take from one to several weeks, but typically lasts from 6 to 12 months, sometimes longer.

    ​*A fee of $75 applies if the infiltration is performed under ultrasound.
