Zusane Taing
Translated from French
"My name is Zusane, a physiotherapy technologist and coordinator for the Physiothérapie Mieux-Être and Réadaptation CMME clinics, overseeing both first-line services (PT, OT, ACU) and second-line services (FCD). My role involves treating patients when staffing needs arise, supporting my team with complex cases, and mentoring employees and treating therapists through training and presentations on managing CNESST and SAAQ clientele.
The path that led me here is deeply influenced by my background. My parents came to Canada as refugees during the Cambodian genocide. With few connections and limited knowledge of French, they worked incredibly hard throughout my childhood. Watching them, I quickly understood the importance of pushing myself to excel.
As a child, I dreamed of becoming a pharmacist, but I soon realized it wasn’t the right fit for me. My passion for sports was undeniable. I played soccer for ten years before diving into martial arts, including jiu-jitsu, judo, and boxing. These disciplines taught me teamwork, perseverance, and discipline.
My educational journey also played a key role in shaping my career choice. After attending Louis-Gravel, I completed my final year at Pierre-Dupuy. Based on my personality, my guidance counselor suggested two internships: one in law enforcement and the other in kinesiology-based rehabilitation. During my kinesiology internship at a major rehabilitation center, I discovered a passion that guided my career path.
I graduated from Cégep Marie-Victorin just before the pandemic. Rather than pursuing university studies, I chose to enter the workforce immediately to gain hands-on experience. My journey with CMME began with an internship at a clinic in a semi-basement in St-Michel. Shortly after, I was hired, marking the start of my professional adventure with this organization.
Despite the uncertainties of the pandemic, we adapted by offering tele-rehabilitation services while keeping our doors open. This period was both demanding and rewarding. Rémi, who is now my employer and mentor, played a crucial role by guiding us with his clear vision and ability to innovate amidst uncertainty. Today, the rehabilitation team has grown to over 40 employees and continues to expand through new acquisitions.
I’m proud of our growth, but my ambitions go beyond that. Working alongside Rémi, whose vision inspires me, motivates me to push myself both professionally and personally. His innovative projects drive my desire to contribute even more. We share similar values, including making rehabilitation services accessible to all - a mission close to my heart.
As a technologist, I love supporting patients and witnessing their progress. As a coordinator, managing six clinics and numerous administrative tasks is a daily challenge, but it’s one I thrive on. Every day, I give 110% to ensure quality service while fostering an environment where our employees feel valued. A healthy workplace is essential to our collective success.
As Zusane, I deeply believe in continuous personal growth through constant learning. Mistakes are part of the process, but what matters is learning to get back up and move forward. If you don’t stumble, you don’t learn.
Finally, I’d like to thank Vanessa, CMME’s operations director, for her support in my management journey, as well as the entire rehabilitation and physiotherapy team for the work we accomplish together. And of course, a big thank you to Rémi (and his ever-innovative ideas (laughs!)). I always say ‘we’ when talking about my work because everything relies on the team. Working with such an incredible team makes anything possible. Teamwork is essential, and without them, we wouldn’t have achieved all this!"
